OUR HISTORY

Ibiza's last handcrafted llaüt

The llaüt is the traditional boat of the Mediterranean coast. It was formerly used for trawling and transporting goods, although over time, in most cases, it is used as a recreational vessel.

They originally sailed, although today most of these vessels are motor-powered.

The llaüts are characterized by their consistency, stability and resistance, even in adverse weather conditions.

For generations, the llaüts were handcrafted by the shipwrights, known in Ibiza as mestres d'aixa. For this purpose, they used native woods, pine trees being one of the most common in the Pitiusas Islands.

LUNES, A MASTERPIECE

Handmade, made in Ibiza

Lunes That's the name of our ship. Its construction began in 1996, when Viçent Lluc, one of the last boatbuilders on the island, accepted the challenge of building his last llaüt, his masterpiece: a boat in which to reflect all the experience acquired during a lifetime dedicated to the complicated and hard profession of shipwright.

The following materials were used for its construction: pine trees on the north coast of Ibiza, carefully selected according to the shapes marked on the templates. After a year of drying, the artisanal work began.

Seven years later, in the summer of 2003, Lunes It was a reality. Today it is considered the last llaüt built by hand in Ibiza.
